Update on Caylee...

Went back to the emercency room yesterday morning for her re-check. They took out the packing from the wound and replaced it with a new one. They said it looked very good. This time we have a little oval bandaid behing her ear that hardly even noticable. It surely enabled her to sleep all night long. That head wrap thing was for the birds! Anyways, the minute we walked through the doors she started screaming bloody murder! She remembered where she was! She is a very smart little girl! Everytime someone with scrubs on or anyone that even resembled a doctor passed by, she was screamimg!

Left there and took her straight to her primary doctors office. Doc discovered a ear drum infection and changed her antibiotic to very strong one to get rid of both infections. She was upset because the emercency room doctor never even looked in her ears. She said that neither were related. Two totally different bacterias. I ask her if maybe when the dresser fell on her was the cause and she said, "definately NOT!" She said that it looked more to her like a bug bite that was highly infected to the point of an abcess. She is being treated and is recovering well. Thanks to all of you that are keeping up with Caylee.

  1. Kathy,

I am so glad to read that Caylee is doing better. I can only imagine how uncomfortable that bandage was -- honestly, we work in pediatric dermatology (never seen anyone put a gauze on a child like that). I agree with your pediatrician that she probably got a bug bite super infected -- hey, it happens. It sucks, but it does happen.

Sorry about the ear infection. Geez, Caylee is just keeping you on your toes.

HOpe her ear gets better both on the outside and inside!!!
